Born and raised in New York City\, he spent 7 years living in New Orleans\, where he led the Messy Cookers Jazz Band\, a band specializing in traditional New Orleans style jazz…..Alex moved to New York in August of 2019 to pursue a Master’s of Music and Music Education at Teachers College\, Columbia University (completed in May of 2021). He has been featured all over New York and the northeast in the traditional jazz and swing scene\, with musicians such as Terry Waldo\, Glenn Crytzer\, the Baby Soda Jazz Band\, and Miss Maybell and her Jazz Age Artistes..\nexcerpt from Alex Owen’s Bio \nTHIS SEASON 2026\, as a SiOCF GRANTEE\, we are hosting LIVE BANDS on SELECT SUNDAYS. We play Jump Blues\, Swing\, Latin\, Hot Jazz and more\, Our Sunday events are held at King Jagiello Plaza. This stunning plaza in the round overlooks Turtle Pond  and Belvedere Castle. \nDANCE LESSON: during band breaks\nFREE ( $10 donation suggested)\nAll our events are weather permitting.
