Greetings Dancers - Our 2004 finale dance event Sunday October 10th was Tremendous! We enjoyed the largest turn out in our 5 year history in Central Park. Some of the biggest dance stars joined us that day as The Walter J Hawkes Trio along with special guest Trombonist Todd Londagin gave us marvelous music to groove to. We will post some of the pictures shortly so stay tuned! And we hope to see you next year!

Greetings Dancers - Our Finale for the year will be Sunday October 10th. This should be a big one since lots of dancers are in town for the jam packed weekend of events. We are listed with these festivities including the Basie Centennial. Just a note that on September 12, the live music by Aisha Hosley was terrific and the weather was Dynamite. We unfortunately had to stop the dance early due to a permit conflict. Apparently there were two permits awarded for the same time period. We apologize for those of you who showed up at the end to discover we were gone.

Sunday October 10th will begin with a Line dance lesson (The Madison) at 3pm, followed by J. Walter Hawkes Trio at 4pm providing us with somw swingin' live music. DJ's visiting from around the world will join in during the breaks. Come have a great time in the Central Park Bandshell and bring your dancing shoes. It's Free! donation suggested (That's how it's funded)

Greetings Dancers - Well it was another great turnout on August 8th as we had the bet day of the summer for sure. J Walter Hawkes and his trio really worked it out and we were treated with great live music. Stay tuned for pictures. We'll see you all on September 12th for the next installation of Central Park Swings!

August 2nd 2004 posting:

Greetings Dancers - Well it was a great turnout on July 25th as we had over 50 dancers. And the weather cleared up just in time. Had the weather forcast been better, we would have also been treated with live music. Regardless, it was an excellent dance of the summer. This coming Sunday August 8th will be the next Central Park Swings. We are planning a line dance lesson at 3pm and live music starting at 4pm. Stay tuned for details!

July 25 2004 11am posting:

Greetings Dancers - We are again stuck with a difficult decision as there is a threat of rain this afternoon but the skys appear to be clearing. Taylor of the Blue Vipers has offered to play today but we have not made a decision yet. If the skys are clear this afternoon , we will be out there with at least a sound system.

Greetings Dancers - As you might have guessed, the first event was cancelled due to rain. We had a difficult decision to make early on Sunday as the weather forcast was for rain in the afternoon. We made this call at noon but due to tecnical difficulties were unable to post at that time. Stay tuned for info on the band for July 25th.

The July 18th Season Opener features the premier of AKIVA INTERNATIONAL, a diverse and swinging unit from NYC. Akiva is the bandleader and guitarist for this group, whose members hail from the USA,l Greece, and Japan.
Come have a great time in the Central Park Bandshell and bring your dancing shoes.

May 11th 2004 Posting:

Greetings Dancers. The 2004 Season of Central Park Swings will get underway during the second half of the summer. The reasons for this are two fold. One, we wish not to conflict with MidSummer Night Swing this year and Two, we expect to have use of the renovated/repaired Band Shell torwards the end of the summer. Rather than use the temporary stage we prefer to hold off in expectation of competion of the Band Shell repairs. Stay tuned for updates on all our awarded dates beginning no earlier than July 17th
