An outdoor swing music concert and dance open to public. The music is live and there is a dance lesson at the start. You can come just for the music or you can bust out your own dancing. All of our events are permitted through NYC Parks and Recreation. Events are subject to cancellation due to weather.

ALEX OWEN QUARTET Alex Owen is a New Orleans style jazz trumpeter, vocalist, and educator based in New York City. Born and raised in New York City, he spent 7 years living in New Orleans, where he led the Messy Cookers Jazz Band, a band specializing in traditional New Orleans style jazz…..Alex moved to New York in August of 2019 to pursue a Master’s of Music and Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University (completed in May of 2021). He has been featured all over New York and the northeast in the traditional jazz and swing scene, with musicians such as Terry Waldo, Glenn Crytzer, the Baby Soda Jazz Band, and Miss Maybell and her Jazz Age Artistes..

Central Park Swings is an afternoon of music. Featuring Live Music and DJ’s that cater to Social Dancing. We play Jump Blues, Swing, Latin, Hot Jazz and more, Our Sunday events are held at King Jagiello Plaza. This stunning plaza in the round overlooks Turtle Pond and Belvedere Castle.
